Interview with Georgina Heydon (complete)

Georgina Heydon is a forensic linguist, and she’s concerned with making sure that police use good interview techniques that are likely to provide good information. She’s written extensively on lying and lie detection. Are there any “tells”? Do certain words, phrases, or even tenses indicate lying?

Thanks to Professor Heydon for this interview, and thanks to the International Association of Forensic Linguists for making this interview possible.
